Materials

Main ingredients

  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt (unsweetened) Thicker and easier to apply without dripping.
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons honey Start with 1 tablespoon if your hair gets weighed down easily.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or coconut oil Optional for extra hydration on dry ends.
  • a few drops hair-friendly oil (like argan) Optional, if you have it.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start with slightly damp hair. Mist with water or towel dry after a quick rinse.
  • Mix the yogurt and honey in a bowl until smooth. If it’s too thick, add a tiny splash of water.
  • Section your hair with your fingers and apply the mixture from mid-lengths to ends first.
  • If your scalp is dry, lightly coat the scalp too, but do not dump the whole bowl on your roots.
  • Clip your hair up and cover with a shower cap or plastic bag. Then wrap a towel on top if desired.

Application

  • Let the mask sit for 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Rinse with lukewarm water, then shampoo lightly and condition as normal.
  • If worried about residue, perform two shorter rinses instead of one aggressive rinse.

Notes

For best results, use once a week. If your hair is extremely dry, you can use it twice a week for a couple of weeks, then scale back. Avoid flavored yogurt as it contains added sugars and dyes.
